The 24th Kagyu Winter Buddhist Philosophical Debate (13th Dec. 2023 to 11th Jan. 2024)

The Kagyu Gunchoe or Kagyu Winter Debate returned to its original venue in Bodhgaya following the COVID 19 pandemic. The 24th annual Kagyu Gunchoe began on 13th December 2023.

This year we have 1254 participants and support staffs, representing 12 institutes: Karma Śhrī Nālandā Institute of Higher Buddhist Studies, Palpung Shedra Lungrig Jampel Ling, Rigpe Dorje Tsug Lag Lobnyer Khang, Sönada Rangjung Künkhyab Thorim Lobnyer Khang, Zurmang Shedra Lungtok Norbü Gatshel, Thrangu Shedra Vajra Vidyā, Tergar Shedra Ösel Ling, Karma Lekshe Ling Shedra, Nyide Shedra Lungtok Chökyi Gatshel, Gyendruk Khepe Densa Pel Nālandā, Bokar Shedra Öbar Chime Ling and Benchen Shedra Nangten Thösam Ling.

The program features inter group debate competitions, teachings on Buddhist philosophy and Torma (Butter sculpture) trainings.

With generous support from devotees of H.H the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Thinley Dorje, KunKyong Charitable Trust fully funds travelling, accommodation, food and other needs of attendees. The program is co-organised on rotational basis among the participating institutes, and this year is hosted by Palpung Shedra Lungrig Jampel Ling.
